Membership

Are you considering joining the Southern Comforters Quilt Guild? You should! You do not need to know how to quilt, or even sew, to join us. We welcome members of any skill level so long as you bring your curiosity and enthusiasm. We are happy to help you on your quilting journey!

• Community of support as you learn the skill and hobby of quilting, and many related fiber arts.
• Twice monthly meetings to engage with other members to celebrate your quilting wins, or commiserate those lessons learned.
• Chance to give back with our Community Quilts program.
• Opportunities to show off your work at local quilt and art shows.
• Participate in our public events, the spring Quilt BINGO and the fall Challenge Show & Market.
• Take part in our semi-annual weekend quilting retreats.
• Library of books free to borrow, friends with tools they’re willing to lend, and frequent donated scraps and materials available.
• New fiber friends!

We are entirely volunteer run and there are no requirements beyond annual dues. However, we encourage all members to help our guild to flourish so that our network of quilters is enriching and enjoyable to everyone. There are opportunities to help every aspect of the guild if you are willing and able.

Do you have a child interested in joining us, too? We’d love to have them! All the same benefits are available to junior members. And they are offered the same opportunities to help with running our guild. Junior members must be sponsored by a regular member who will accompany and support them.

The guild year runs from June 1st to May 31st. Dues are $30 per year for regular members and $15 per year for junior members. If dues are a barrier to membership for you, please contact us directly to apply for one of our Membership Scholarships.

To join us, fill out the membership form and mail it with your payment to PO Box 847, Bowie, MD 20718-0847. Dues can be paid by check made to Southern Comforters Quilt Guild.
