About our Guild

Quilts and quilting encourages expressions of individualism, creativity, knowledge, and enthusiasm which are shared with others. We welcome guests as we provide a gathering place to promote fellowship with those who share a common interest. Take part in our guild and share our love of quilts and help to promote quilting for future generations.

We were formed in 1982 with a purpose to promote appreciation of the rich heritage of quilting through educational opportunities by presenting speakers, workshops, and other activities related to quilt making.

In May of 1982, ten ladies met at the local quilt shop in Bowie, MD. Some discussion and a lot of enthusiasm later, they created the Southern Comforters Quilt Guild.
